Overview

Ending Africa's
Fertiliser Import Dependency

The Dangote Fertiliser plant is a world-scale, gas-to-fertiliser complex located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, Nigeria. With an annual production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes of urea and 2.8 million tonnes of ammonia, it is Africa's largest single fertiliser complex and one of the largest in the world.

Africa imports over 80% of its fertiliser needs — a dependency that costs the continent over $4 billion annually and undermines agricultural productivity. The Dangote Fertiliser plant fundamentally disrupts this model, providing locally-produced, competitively-priced fertilisers to Nigerian and African farmers.

The plant uses KBR's Purifier™ technology for the ammonia unit and Saipem's urea process technology — both world-class and proven in large-scale applications globally. Natural gas from the Nigerian domestic gas grid provides the primary feedstock.
