Aliko Dangote
Born on April 10, 1957 in Kano, Nigeria, Aliko Dangote is Africa's richest person and the world's richest Black person with a net worth of approximately $32.5 billion (2026). He founded Dangote Group in 1981 after starting his entrepreneurial career in 1977 with a $3,000 loan from his uncle. Under his visionary leadership, Dangote Group has grown into Africa's largest conglomerate operating in 17 African countries with over 30,000 employees and revenues of US$9.6 billion.
He was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) in 2011, was featured in TIME100 twice, and has been ranked by Forbes as Africa's Most Powerful Man for 6 consecutive years (2013-2018). His $1.25 billion Aliko Dangote Foundation is Africa's largest philanthropic organization.
